How to Apply

Applying to our programs involves a few key steps. All applications are managed through the UCSF Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, but specific requirements vary by program.

 

Start Your Application

To begin your journey, visit the UCSF Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs online application.

  1. Create an account in the Application Portal.
  2. Follow the instructions on the page to create your account and navigate the portal.
  3. Select your desired program from the dropdown menu.

 

General Application Requirements

While each program has its own specific criteria, all applicants are required to provide the following core components:

  • Transcripts: Official or unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Statement of Purpose: A summary of your academic interests, professional goals, and reasons for applying.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Typically, three letters from academic or professional references.
  • Resume/CV: An up-to-date account of your professional and research experience.
  • English Language Proficiency: Required for international applicants (e.g., TOEFL or IELTS).
