Overview
Presenting one's own work to peers, instructing peers in methodologic topics, and critiquing the work of others are skills that clinical researchers will use throughout their careers. Accordingly, the Master's Seminar II will be dedicated to scholars presenting the current status of their research projects to their peers as well as instructing their peers in methodologic topics germane to all clinical researchers.
Course Details
The specific objectives for each scholar's presentation are for the:
- Scholar to get practice presenting his/her research in an oral format;
- Scholar to receive feedback on his/her research from the faculty and the other Master's Program scholars;
- Audience to practice critiquing the research of other investigators;
- Audience to learn about the presenter's substantive discipline; and
- Audience to learn about a general clinical research method that they can someday apply to their own work.
We strive to make these sessions valuable for both the presenter and the audience. These are lofty goals but well worth trying to achieve.
Completion of three quarters of the Master's Seminar I (EPI 220)
Attendance
Attendance is required for all seminars. Learners are allowed 3 excused absences and are required to provide a written critique in lieu of an excused absence.

Winter: Jan 5, 19, Feb 2, 16, Mar 2, 16
Spring: Mar 30, Apr 13, 27, May 11, 25
Presentation & Review Requirements
In addition to the attendance requirement, everyone should be prepared to present at least once and to be a reviewer over the course of a year.
All materials will be available on the course's online syllabus.
Grades are Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) and will be based on attendance and participation.
Only UCSF students (defined as individuals enrolled in UCSF degree or certificate programs) will receive academic credit for courses. Official transcripts are available to UCSF students only. A Certificate of Course Completion will be available upon request to individuals who are not UCSF students and satisfactorily pass all course requirements.

This course is restricted to those enrolled in the Advanced Training in Clinical Research Certificate Program (ATCR) and the Master's in Clinical Research Degree Program. A limited number of spaces are available to non-TICR students. Please complete the course application form to indicate interest in participation.
